AMHERST, MA – NJIT men's swimming and diving fell 199-94 to UMass in a non-conference meet on Sunday afternoon.
Senior
Matheus Monteiro Montarroyos and sophomore
Nicholas Lyons each tallied four trips to the podium.
Montarroyos came in second place in both the 200 free (1:44.58) and the 50 free (21.63), out touching third place swimmer Kyle Stefanides.
Lyons grabbed second place in both the 100 breast (58.25) and the 200 breast (2:09.88).
In the 400 free relay Montarroyos and Lyons along with teammates
Tyler Pollock and
Jack Matusiak took second, swimming in 3:13.98.
Montarroyos and Lyons were also part of the third place 200 medley relay including
Scott Quirie and
Mattheau Bonner.
Freshman Bonner also notched second in the 100 fly coming in at 52.60.
JT Morehead placed second in the 1000 free coming in at 10:10.52 and in the 500 free finishing in 4:53.47.
In the divers first meet of the season,
Avery Bechtel placed second in the 3-meter dive and third in the 1-meter dive while
Cole Becker finished third in the 3-meter dive.
The Highlanders host Bryant on November 3
rd for their next meet, starting at 7pm.
