DELAND, FL— Hot shooting Stetson shot 55 percent from the field, scoring 44 points in the first half, topping visiting NJIT, 77-43, in ASUN Conference women's basketball action at the Edmonds Center Monday.
The Hatters, winners of four straight, improved to 4-1 in the ASUN, 15-5 overall while the Highlanders drop its third straight, falling to 1-4 in the ASUN, 8-12 overall.
Stetson had three players reach double-figures led by junior guard Britteny Chambers game-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from downtown in 21 minutes of action off the bench for the Hatters.
Senior forward Breana Bey combined for 14 points and eight rebounds while junior forward Sara Sagerer notched her fifth double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Hatters held a 44-to-28 advantage on the boards.
Reigning ASUN Player of the Week Brianti Saunders chipped in nine points, five rebounds and five assists for the home team.

Stetson came out on fire, turning an early 8-2 advantage into a 36-4 lead by the 5:29 mark of the second quarter and led 44-13 at the break. The Highlanders combined for 12 points in the third quarter led by Torres with seven and outscored the home team in the fourth, 18-14.
NJIT will return to action on Saturday at 1pm when the Highlanders host Lipscomb in the Fleisher Athletic Center.
Last season, the Highlanders went 1-1 against Lipscomb, earning the program's first all-time win in the ASUN Conference on February 4, 2016, 61-51, in Newark.
