BROOKLYN, NY—The NJIT women's volleyball team swept St. Francis Brooklyn in straight sets, 3-0, to conclude the 2016 Terrier/Rose Hill Classic Saturday evening at the Genovesi Center on the campus of St. Francis Brooklyn.
The Highlanders, who won a five-set thriller at Fordham Saturday morning, swept St. Francis Brooklyn in straight sets, 25-16, 26-24, 25-17 in the nightcap, improving to 4-3 on the young season.
NJIT wrapped up the Classic with a 2-1 record, with wins over Fordham and St. Francis Brooklyn while taking its lone loss from Quinnipiac on Friday evening. St. Francis Brooklyn finished second with a 2-1 record (Highlanders took the head-to-head tiebreaker), followed by Fordham (1-2) and Quinnipiac (1-2)
NJIT's
Katarzyna Klocek,
Weronika Wiezik and
Anneka Harris were named to the Terrier/Rose Hill Classic All-Tournament team.
Transfers Klocek and Wiezik each notched 10 kills apiece for the winners followed by a strong performance by
Tess Albyn with eight kills on 20 swings with one error for a .350 hitting percentage.

Mikalah Hughes each notched five kills for the Highlanders.

Liz Benson continued her strong play at the setting position, piling up a match-best 17 assists to go along with nine digs. Rodrigues added nine assists.
Libero
Adriana Nieto led the match with 17 digs followed by Benson (9), Wiezik (8) and Klocek and
Olivia Welsch (7).
The Highlanders led the service ace category paced by Benson's match-best three aces while Wiezik,
Anneka Harris and Nieto each recorded one ace apiece.
St. Francis Brooklyn's Domenique Gerard was the lone Terrier collecting double-figure kill totals with 10. Setter Macy Kurtz recorded a double-double with 12 assists and 14 digs while libero Alex Caporuscio notched a team-best 15 digs.
In front of the net for the Terriers, Niehely Sosa led the match with five block assists.
NJIT will return to action on September 10-11 when the Highlanders compete in the LIU Brooklyn Tournament. NJIT will face host LIU Brooklyn on September 10 at 1pm.
