BROOKYLN, NY—NJIT's
Katarzyna Klocek notched a match-high 15 kills and added seven digs, but it wasn't enough as Quinnipiac swept the Highlanders, 3-0, on the opening day of the 2016 Terrier/Fordham Invitational at the Genovesi Center.
NJIT, which hit .324 for the match, fell in tight sets to the Bobcats – 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20.
Quinnipiac, 5-1 on the season, registered its second win against the Highlanders in 2016. The Highlanders and Bobcats met last weekend at the La Salle Tournament, with Quinnipiac, winning 3-1. NJIT falls to 2-4 on the young season.
The Bobcats, which hit an impressive .360 for the match, were led by three players -- Jen Coffey (12), Natalie Alechko and Elizabeth Kloos (10), reaching double-digit kills. Coffey recorded a .462 hitting percentage with no errors on 26 attempts while Kloos notched a .562 hitting percentage with one error on 16 swings.
Maria Pansari piled up a match-best 29 assists while Kat Miller led the Bobcats with 10 digs.
Quinnipiac held an 8-4 service ace advantage paced by Alejandra Rodriguez with three aces followed by Pansari with two.
NJIT's Klocek, a 6-foot-3 right side transfer from Division II Dowling College, hit .464, collecting 15 kills on 28 attempts with just two errors. The two-time AVCA honorable mention all-East Region honoree from Poland, added seven digs for the Highlanders.
Weronika Wiezik, an AVCA all-East Region honoree in 2015, notched 12 kills, combining for a .370 hitting percentage on 27 attempts with just two errors. Wiezik added five digs.

Anna Rodrigues split time at the setting position for the Highlanders, notching 24 and 14 assists respectively.
Defensively, libero
Adriana Nieto paced the match with 13 digs while senior middle
Anneka Harris led the match with three block assists. Rodrigues added two block assists for the Highlanders.
NJIT will be back in action on Saturday at 11:30am when the Highlanders visit Fordham and wrap up the Invitational at St. Francis Brooklyn at 5pm.
