EIVA Official Release

BRONXVILLE, NY—Redshirt junior Luke Robbe has been honored as Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Defensive Player of the Week, Brian Snow of the EIVA announced Tuesday.

The Highlanders middle hitter, from Wildwood, WO, guided NJIT to their fifth straight win of the season and a pair of wins over Princeton, marking the first time since 2008, NJIT defeated Princeton twice in the same year (but it took the Highlanders three matches to do it that season).

In the Highlanders 3-2 win at Princeton, Robbe, combined for 12 kills on 19 swings with just one error for a match-best .579 hitting percentage while, adding four total blocks.

On Friday night, in NJIT's 3-1 victory at home, Robbe, who recorded 10 kills, did not commit an attack error in 16 attempts to notch a .625 attack percentage.  Robbe combined for seven total blocks (all assists).

Robbe and the Highlanders, who have won five straight, its longest since 2007, when the Highlanders won six in a row to open the season, will host No. 15 Saint Francis U on Friday at 7 pm.
