NEWARK, NJ—Visiting Lipscomb swept NJIT, 3-0, in ASUN Conference women's volleyball action Sunday afternoon in the Fleisher Athletic Center.
Lipscomb notched its sixth straight win of the season, improving to 8-2 in the ASUN and 16-7 overall, while the Highlanders drop to 1-9 in the ASUN and 9-19 overall.
The Lady Bisons won in straight sets, 25-17, 25-17 and 25-18 paced by a match-best 12 kills from sophomore outside hitter Lauren Anderson. Anderson combined for an impressive .647 hitting percentage on 17 attempts
with just one error. Sophomore outside hitter Carlyle Nusbaum was the other Lady Bison to record double-digit kills with 10.
Lipscomb used two setters – Morgan Elmore and Kayla Ostrom, each recording, 17 and 10 assists respectively. Nusbaum was the team-leader with eight digs followed by libero Brittany Thomas (6) and Elmore and Ostrom with five apiece.
In front of the net, senior middle blocker Katie Bradley combined for five total blocks for Lipscomb.
Freshman middle blocker Maddie Phillips notched a match-high four aces as Lipscomb held a 7-3 advantage. Nusbaum added two aces.

Mikalah Hughes combined for a .333 hitting percentage with five kills on nine swings with two errors. Hughes paced the match with six total blocks (all assists).

Adriana Nieto added eight digs for the Highlanders.
With five regular season matches remaining, NJIT will return to action on November 4, when the Highlanders visit North Florida at 7pm and Jacksonville on November 5 at 5pm.
The top six teams in the league will compete for the ASUN Championship and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The tournament will be played in Nashville for the second season in a row at Lipscomb from November 17-19.
