HACKENSACK, NJ—Fairleigh Dickinson took visiting, NJIT in tight sets, sweeping the Highlanders, 3-0, Wednesday night in non-conference women's volleyball action at the Stratis Arena.
Fairleigh Dickinson, snaps a four-match skid, improving to 3-22 on the season while the Highlanders drop to 8-16 with nine regular season matches remaining.
Each frame was decided by five or less points, with the Knights, sweeping the Highlanders, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-23.

Liz Benson was the match-leader with 26 assists while sophomore libero
Adriana Nieto notched a match-best 21 digs. Wiezik, nearly missed recording a double-double, combining for nine digs.
Fairleigh Dickinson's Caroline Laton recorded a team-best seven kills while Taylor Wycokoff and Carly O'Sullivan recorded six apiece.
Setter Kirstin Trabert combined for a double-double with 18 assists and 12 digs for the Knights. O'Sullivan posted 10 digs while Laton was the match-leader with seven total blocks (three solo, four assists).
In the first frame, both teams traded points as the set saw multiple ties and lead changes. The teams continued to battle and keep things within one point until a block from Fairleigh Dickinson's Rebecca Sabol and Annabel Reyes gave the Knights the 21-19 edge. The Highlanders tied the set up again at 23-23, but a block by Fairleigh Dickinson and a kill from Carly O'Sullivan gave the Knights the 25-23 victory.
The home team scored the opening three points of the second set and continued to build a 7-2 advantage. The Knights maintained its edge until the Highlanders scored four straight, tying the frame up at 12. The frame saw its final tie of the set, 18-18, after an error by the home team. The Knights used a 7-2 spurt and won 25-20, taking a 2-0 lead.
In the final set, the Knights jumped out to a 10-6 lead. The Highlanders rallied back slimming the lead to within one, 12-13. The home extended its lead to 17-14 and later 20-15, resulting in an NJIT timeout. The Highlanders scored four straight points, pulling within two, 19-21, on a service ace by
Liz Benson. After a timeout by the Knights, the Highlanders cut the lead to within one on two occasions, the final at 23-24 after a Fairleigh Dickinson attack error but the Knights scored the final point of the match, taking a 25-23 victory from NJIT.
NJIT will return to ASUN Conference competition on Saturday at 1pm, hosting USC Upstate in the Fleisher Athletic Center. The Highlanders will host Marist on Sunday at 1pm.
