Box Score KINGSTON, RI—The NJIT women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to University of Cincinnati Saturday afternoon on the final day at the 2014 Art Carmichael Invitational hosted by URI in Keaney Gymnasium.
The Bearcats won in straight sets 25-12, 25-17, and 25-18 to capture the Art Carmichael Invitational crown, finishing a perfect 3-0. Cincinnati recorded its fourth straight win of the season improving to 6-3, while NJIT drops to 3-8 on the season.
Cincinnati had two players reach double-figure kill totals, paced by junior outside hitters Emma Roberson (12) and Morgan Allred (11). Roberson, who was named MVP of the tournament, hit an impressive .667 for the match with no errors on 18 swings. Freshman middle blocker Cortnee Bowser posted a .600 hitting percentage on 7 kills, 1 error on 10 attempts while adding a match-high four total blocks (1 solo, 3 assists).
Setter Caitlin Ogletree piled up a match-high 36 assists as senior libero led the match with 14 digs.
NJIT (3-8) was led by junior middle
Nina Vukotic with 9 kills while senior middle
Valerie Carroll, who was named to the all-tournament team, combined for 4 kills and 4 total blocks (2 solo, 2 assists) against Cincinnati. For the tournament, Carroll recorded 17 kills and 11 total blocks.

Alyssa Armada returned back to the lineup Saturday posting 16 digs and five digs while senior outside hitter
Fran Edmondson led the NJIT defense with 7 digs followed by libero
Camilla Tinari (6) and Edmondson (5).
NJIT will return to action on September 17 when the Highlanders visit Fairleigh Dickinson at 7pm.
