Box Score PHILADELPHIA—NJIT had three players record double-doubles Friday in the Highlanders 3-1 victory over host La Salle at the 2014 La Salle Invitational at Tom Gola Arena.
In the opening match of the Invitational Friday morning, NJIT fell 3-0 to Coppin State.
La Salle (0-2) won the first set, 25-20, as visiting NJIT (1-1) took the next three frames, 25-15, 26-24 and 25-17 to record the first victory of the 2014 season.
The two-day, four-match tournament in Philadelphia will wrap up on Saturday with the Highlanders facing Manhattan at 9am and Loyola (MD) at 2pm.

La Salle had three players reach double-figure kill total,s led by Jennifer Whelan (15) followed by Kelly Perillo and Bryanna Davis (12). Setter Michelle Healy recorded a match-high 41 assists, while Perillo led the Explorers defense with 14 digs followed by Rachel Melich (12), Erin Noga (12), and Davis (11).
