JERSEY CITY, NJ – NJIT men's swimming and diving was defeated by Saint Peter's Friday night with a score of 131-96.
Leading the Highlanders was freshman
Collin Moore who had two first-place finishes, first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.31) and then in the 100-yard butterfly (52.89). Moore re-broke his own NJIT record in the 100-yard butterfly from earlier in the season.
Junior diver
David Schmidt placed first in both the 1-meter dive and the 3-meter dive.
Scott Quire finished second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:12.37 and also in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.49.
In the 100-yard freestyle, sophomore
Anthony Czar placed first with a time of 48.49, while sophomore teammate
Joseph Pedo finished sixth.
Freshman
Maxim Tillman finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:10.10) and third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.32).
Christian Giglio, a senior, came in third in both the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.68 and the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.88.
Other notable swimmers were:
Richard Seffrin who was second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:48.77 and
Michael Sungurov who finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.87.
In the 50-yard freestyle,
Jack Matusiak placed fourth, while teammate
Joseph Nguyen finished sixth.
Jonathan Drori was fifth in the 100-yard butterfly, while
Timothy Sullivan placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle.
Alexander Hilsamer also finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke.
NJIT next travels to Rhode Island on Sunday, November 16, when the Highlanders will face Bryant.
