NEW BRITAIN, CT—Hartford hit .306 for the match, claiming a 3-1 victory over NJIT in the final match for both teams at the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational in women's volleyball.
 
Hartford (5-10) jumped out early, winning the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-12.  NJIT (2-10) answered with a 25-15 victory in the third frame after hitting .321, but the Hawks rebounded for a 25-15 score to secure the match. 
 
Hartford junior outside hitter Sareeta Nethersole led the match with 14 kills, followed by Lindsay Anderson and Corinne Horanzy, each notching 10 kills apiece.  Anderson finished the match hitting .421 with two errors on 19 swings.
 
Setter Jackie Tamburri piled up a match-high 40 assists and added 10 digs for the Hawks while Paola Llerandi added 12 digs.  Nethersole recorded a match-high five total blocks (all assists).
 
NJIT was paced by Danica Vukotic with 12 kills while Cathy Leung and Valerie Carroll added seven and six kills respectively. Vukotic finished the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational with 42 kills (4.67kps) and 17 digs (1.89dps).
 
Setter Fran Edmondson notched 24 assists and added eight digs for the Highlanders.  Junior libero Katie Goswick dug-up a match-high 14 digs.
 
NJIT will return to action on September 25 when the Highlanders visit La Salle.  The match is scheduled for 7pm.   Last season, La Salle nipped NJIT, 3-2 in Philadelphia.
