Men’s Swimming Falls to Manhattan, Continues Record Setting Season

RIVERDALE, NY—The NJIT men's swimming team continued its record breaking season in their meet against Manhattan, falling 99-91.

NJIT's 800 Freestyle Relay, made up of freshman Richard Seffrin, freshman Jonathan Drori, freshman Brian Capozzola, and senior Shawn Brian smashed the old school record by 20 seconds, with a time of 7:19.94. The time qualified for the ECAC Championships in March and is the 13th school record broken this year.

Seffrin, besides being in the record breaking relay, re-broke his own school record in the 1000 Freestyle with a 1st place finish of 10:03.94. He also placed first in the 500 Freestyle with a 4:53.80.

Other notable swims included a 1:07.83 by freshman Hanson Tran in the 100 Breaststroke and junior Christian Barnard with a 24.30 in the 50 Freestyle. Teammate senior Johannes Smit went a 25.82 in the 50 Freestyle as well.

Men's Swimming will be back in action on Saturday, February 2 against Fairfield  at 1pm.
