Rayven Johnson was selected to the 2012 Great West Conference Women's Basketball All-Tournament team the conference office announced Saturday evening.
Johnson, a junior from Rahway, NJ, averaged 13.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in two contests for the Highlanders. The forward shot over 50 percent from the floor (10-for-19) and 71 percent from the free throw line (5-of-7).
In the Highlanders first round game vs. sixth-seeded Houston Baptist, Johnson scored 13 points and six rebounds in 16 minutes of action. Johnson went 5-of-10 from the field and 2-for-3 from behind the arc.
NJIT's semifinal game vs. second seeded Utah Valley, Johnson netted a team-high 14 points and five rebounds. Johnson shot 5-for-9 from the field and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Johnson, who was named to the all-GWC first team, finished her junior season at NJIT leading the team in points (334, 11.5ppg), rebounds (232, 8.0) – a new NJIT Division I single season record and shares the lead with teammate
Uju Nwankwo with (29) steals.
