NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT Swimming team hosted William Paterson Wednesday marking the first home swimming competition of the season at the Fleisher Athletic Center.
This meet marked great swims for beginning the 2011-2012 season, although the Highlanders lost with a score of 98-78.
Junior
Jonathan Van Ostenbridge placed first in the 50 Freestyle and second in the 100 backstroke. Both times were within half a second away from his lifetime bests which he swam last year.
Senior captain
Chris Early swam a lifetime best in the 100 breaststroke placing 2
nd in the event.
Junior
Shawn Bryan finished first in the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Freestyle.
In addition, the 200 Freestyle relay placed first consisting of
Victor Razuk,
Nick Estevez, Van Ostenbridge and Bryan with a time of 1:35.58.
Head Coach
Michael Lawson commented on the meet: “I am thrilled yet again to see fast swims so early in the season. The bar that is set keeps getting higher and I cannot wait to see them compete again.”
The Highlander's next meet is this Sunday in Brooklyn, NY against Saint Francis (NY).
