JERSEY CITY, NJ – Visiting NJIT swept to a 3-0 non-conference win over Saint Peter's in women's volleyball action Thursday night at the Yanitelli Center.
The Highlanders recorded their ninth win of the season topping the Peahens in three straight frames – 25-17, 26-24, 29-27.
Junior outside hitter
Renata Pandolfo led the Highlanders with a double-double notching a match-high 16 kills and 10 digs while classmate
Janet Snell followed with 15 kills and eight digs. Janet also added two block assists.
Sophomore middle
Julia Colombo hit .538 for the match finishing with seven kills, 0 errors on 13 swings for the Highlanders. Colombo also contributed five digs.
Cathy Leung added seven kills for the visitors.
Freshman
Ashley Alberti playing at the setting position for the last two sets piled up a career-high 24 assists for NJIT splitting time with
Anna Mercado who finished with 12.
Defensively, senior libero
Audrey Snell was the dig leader for the Highlanders with 21 digs followed by Leung's 14 and Pandolfo's 10 digs. Sophomore middle blocker
Gretchen VonKoenig registered six block assists in front of the net.
Saint Peter's offensive leaders were Laura Reinhart and Paige Petersen. Reinhardt produced a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs while Petersen followed with 13 kills and eight digs.
Setter Anna Molokotina was two digs shy a double-double posting a match-high 33 assists and eight digs for the Peahens.
Saint Peter's libero Jenny Pliska notched a match-high 26 digs and Kassi Wirth combined for four total blocks (1 solo, 3 assists).
NJIT will return to action next weekend when the Highlanders visit Texas-Pan American on November 3 at 7pm (CT) and Houston Baptist on Saturday, November 5 at 2pm (CT).
In the first meeting of the season in Newark, the Highlanders fell 3-1 to Houston Baptist and swept Texas-Pan American, 3-0.
