FAIRFIELD, CT -- NJIT traveled to Fairfield, Connecticut and competed against Fairfield Saturday afternoon. Although losing 110-91, NJIT had some strong swims and notched five first place finishes.
Top individual swims included Shawn Bryan who placed first in the 100 meter freestyle and the 50 meter freestyle with times of 57.01 (51.08 in yards)* and 25.66 (22.99 in yards)* respectively.
In addition, Marlon De La Rosa claimed victory in the 50 meter breaststroke with a time of 32.66 (29.26 in yards)*. He also placed second in the 100 Individual Medley.
Bryan and De La Rosa along with teammates Jonathon Van Ostenbridge and Victor Razuk won the 200 meter free felay. Van Ostenbridge recorded his fastest relay split of the season, which when converted to yards equated to 23.48* seconds.
The 200 meter medley relay consisting of Christian Barnard, Amy Cilento, Michelle Velez and Matthew Negron also placed first as well.
The Highlanders have their final dual meet before championships scheduled for next Saturday January 29 against Manhattan College.
