BROOKLYN, NY—Yale raised its record to four wins in as many contests with a 3-0 women's volleyball win over NJIT Friday afternoon in the first match of the Blackbird Invitational hosted by Long Island University.

Yale topped the Highlanders (1-6) by scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 25-21.

The Bulldogs, who won the 2008 Ivy League championship and posted a 21-4 overall record in 2009, have lost just one set in winning their first four matches of 2010.

Against NJIT, they had two attackers reach double-figures in kills, as freshman Erica Reetz posted 13 kills, with just one error, and junior Bridget Hearst had 12 kills and only three errors.

Setter Kendall Polan finished with 42 assists, while libero Kelly Ozurovich (13th in Division I in digs per set a year ago) had 27 digs against the Highlanders. Reetz and Katie Cordell also reach double-figures in digs, with 10 apiece. McHaney Carter topped Yale's defense at the net, finishing with four total blocks (1 solo, 3 assisted).

NJIT's top performer was sophomore Janet Snell, led the team in both kills (9) and digs (15). Janet's older sister, Audrey Snell, added 11 digs at libero.

Anna Mercado picked up 15 assists#, while four different Highlanders had an ace apiece in a category they led, 4-2. Fernanda Lima finished with three blocks (1 solo, 2 assisted).

NJIT is slated to play two matches on Saturday, taking on host LIU at 10 am and then Georgetown at 3 pm.
