WAYNE, NJ – Despite six first-place finishes for NJIT, the Pioneers from William Paterson defeated the Highlanders Tuesday evening 107-83 at Wightman Pool.
Sophomore Marlon De La Rosa put together a strong performance with a first-place finish and personal best in the 200 IM at 2:09.02. De La Rosa also captured the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:04.48.
Classmate Shawn Bryan took first in the 50 and 100 freestyle while freshman Victor Razuk recorded a personal best in the 200 freestyle at 1:55.84.
The 400 freestyle relay team which consisted of Razuk, Jon Van Ostenbridge, De La Rosa and Bryan placed first at 3:27.45. The relay team edged out William Paterson in the final leg in a come from behind win with NJIT's Bryan as the anchor.
Van Ostenbridge added a second-place finish in the backstroke setting a new personal-best time at 1:05.66 and teammate Chris Early set a personal-best of his own in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:10.85.
The Highlanders return to action on Saturday at Montclair State at 11:30am.
