Men's Volleyball Sweeps Ramapo, 3-0

MAHWAH, NJ - Senior captain Mike Nonnenmann piled up a match-high 22 assists leading NJIT to a 3-0 decision over Ramapo in a non-conference match-up Wednesday night in men's volleyball action.

The Highlanders swept, 30-24, 30-24, 30-27 improving to 5-2 on the season. Ramapo, which plays in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association, is 14-2 overall.

NJIT started out the game taking the first two frames by identical scores, 30-24, and posted a 30-27 victory in the final match.

Highlander junior Amobi Armstrong notched a team-high eight kills while Brazilian native Leonardo Paludo followed behind with seven kills and three digs. Eduardo Welter added six kills while middle Robert Thomas hit an impressive .556 (5-for-9) and three block assists.

Defensively for the Highlanders, Chris Siddayao and freshman Scott McHugh shared team-high honors with five digs. Sophomore Daniel Paslawsky added four seeing action in one game.

Sophomore Rodrigo Correa splitting time with Nonnenmann recorded 16 assists.

Ramapo got a game-high 11 kills from Shane Donohue as Jeff Elsasser and Brendan Whitford posted seven apiece.

Jairo Sierra and Matt Scott sharing time at the setting position for the Roadrunners recorded 17 and 15 assists respectively.

The Highlanders will return to action on Saturday, February 16 when they host EIVA Tait Division opponent George Mason at 8pm in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.
