The NJIT women's tennis team nipped Hofstra, 4-3 Saturday night at the Tenafly Racquet Club improving their record to 5-2 on the season.
The Highlanders won four out of six singles contests while Hofstra took two out of three doubles contests.
With the score tied 3-3, the match came down to the fourth singles contest. NJIT's Fanny Aizier was down 6-1 in the first set. She knotted the contest 1-1 taking a 7-6 (7-2) decision in the second set and came back in dramatic fashion down 3-0 in the third set to win the deciding match, 6-4.
NJIT's Aizier and Dasa Stanimirovic topped Morganne Downing and Valerie McDonald at third doubles, 8-3, picking up the only points for the Highlanders in the doubles competition.
Junior Iulia Doci was a winner a first singles defeating Christie Gattelaro 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Stanimirovic and Chiori Koike were winners at the fifth and sixth spot.
The Highlanders return to action on February 16 when they host Saint Peter's at Tenafly Racquet Club at 9pm.
