LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The NJIT women's tennis team picked up it's first victory of the 2007 season defeating Rider, 6-1 Saturday afternoon.

NJIT won five of the six singles matches and swept the three doubles matches.

Iulia Doci and Isha Toor teamed for an 8-3 win in first doubles against Rider's duo of Danielle Morse and Kristina Paich. Doci also defeated Morse in first singles (6-0, 6-1), while Toor topped Alyssa Markovits in fourth singles (6-1, 6-0).

Fanny Aizier and sophomore Dasa Stanimirovic picked up an 8-2 win for NJIT in second doubles, while Aizier claimed a win in third singles, defeating Amanda Matticks, (6-0, 6-1).

Also picking up a point for NJIT was Stanimirovic at second singles.

The only win for Rider was at fifth singles, won by Danielle Cheong, (6-2, 6-2).

The women's tennis team returns to action on Monday, September 24 when they host Monmouth at the Fleisher Athletic Center. The match is scheduled to start at 4pm.
