LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The NJIT men's tennis team opened up their 2007 season falling 4-3 to Rider this afternoon.

Rider claimed the singles contest winning four out of six matches. Sophomore Steve Erickson started out the match defeating Casey Jedlinski (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 1 spot. Freshman Anthony Tunnero picked up a win for NJIT at No. 3 singles topping Will Haight (6-3, 5-7, 6-3) in a hard fought match.

The Highlanders won two out of three doubles contests. Cosmin Chiujdea and Tunnero defeated Jedlinski and Josh Rultenburg, 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Erickson and Ramy Lawandy followed with a 8-5 win over Haight and Marc Ashed at No. 2 spot.

NJIT will return to action on Tuesday, September 18 when they travel to the Bronx to take on Fordham at 3:30pm.
