Iulia Doci and Chiori Koike scored singles wins for New Jersey Institute of Technology, but Binghamton prevailed, 5-2, in women's tennis Thursday afternoon.
Doci rallied for a win at first singles, splitting the first two sets 6-2 and 2-6, before fighting back, and taking the tiebreaker, 10-2.
Koike prevailed at sixth singles, taking the first set 6-4, dropping the second set 6-0 and digging down deep to take the tiebreaker, 10-8.
Highlanders' double pair Isha Toor and Fanny Aizier defeated Nicole Scarangella and Danyelle Shapiro at No. 2 doubles 7-6 (5).
Binghamton won four straight singles sets and also took two doubles contests.
The Highlanders, now 10-7 in 2006-07, their first year of competition at the Division I level are slated to travel to Bucknell on Saturday March 31 in Lewisburg, PA for a 2pm match.
