The New Jersey Institute of Technology women's tennis team raised its season record to 10-6 with an impressive 7-0 win over visiting Wagner Saturday night in the Tenafly Racquet Club.
The Highlanders, who are in their first season of competition at the NCAA Division I level, have won three of their last four matches, including Saturday's defeat of Wagner.
NJIT took all five contested singles matches and the teams split the two contested doubles matches with NJIT gaining the doubles point on a default win in third doubles.
The Highlanders won the first three singles by 6-0, 6-0 scores with Iulia Doci (#1), Isha Toor (#2) and Marine Henry (#3) all blanking their Wagner counterparts. In fourth singles, Fanny Aizier was a 6-1, 6-0 winner for NJIT, while Chiori Koike won at number five, 6-0, 6-1.
Doci and Fatima Kasem rolled, 8-1, in first doubles and the Highlader duo of Koike and Grace Bogdan won third doubles by default. The visiting Seahawks got a win at second doubles, as Valerie LeCureux and Aarti Mahtani took an 8-3 win.
Next up for NJIT is a match in Vestal, NY against Binghamton University on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
