OREM, UT -
NJIT junior forward Nesho Milosevic is the national NCAA Division I Independent men's basketball Player of the Week, award coordinator Brent Johnson of Utah Valley announced.
Milosevic combined for 52 points (17.3), 26 rebounds (8.7), and two steals in three games for the Highlanders last week.
Milosevic posted three consecutive double-figure totals posting 20 points against Lehigh, 14 at Rider and 18 against Maine.
In a hard-fought loss to Lehigh (67-58), NJIT received a game-high 20 points in just 19 minutes of action from Milosevic, who shot 9-for-10 from the field.
On the road against Rider, NJIT got a team-leading 14 and six rebounds.
In the first two games of the week (Lehigh & Rider), Milosevic shot a combined total 16-20 from the field.
Up in Maine, he posted his first double-double of the season, highlighted by 16 rebounds--the most ever for NJIT in a Division I game, surpassing his own mark of 15 set last season against IPFW on February 17. Milosevic was also the only double-figure scorer for the Highlanders, finishing with 18 points, 14 in the second half.
He currently ranks third among Independents averaging 7.1 rebounds per game.
Nesho and the Highlanders are slated to return to action on Thursday, December 6, when they host Army in NJIT's first-ever game in the Prudential Center in downtown Newark.
