Lafayette scored twice in each half in a 4-0 men's soccer win over visiting New Jersey Institute of Technology on Tuesday night.
Lafayette who improves to 9-3-5 on the year got its first goal at the three minute mark off a throw in by freshman Andreas Kustas to sophomore Kevin Miller who struck the ball from inside the box giving the Leopards a 1-0 lead.
The Leopards took a 2-0 advantage at the 31st minute on a penalty kick by John Griffith. Griffith a junior tallied his first goal of the season.
Freshman Sam Feldbaum, assisted by Chad Barbieri and Kustas, scored in the 52nd minute and David Tapsfield closed the scoring in the 87th minute on a pass from Mark Price.
Lafayette goalkeeper Andrew Pianko recorded his second shutout of the season. For NJIT, Collin Cunning went the distance stopping two shots.
The shots were 9-4 in favor of the home team. For NJIT, four different Highlanders recorded a shot on the night - Brian Nash, Osvaldo Perez, Devon Newton and Michael Bento.
The Highlanders close out their 2007 regular season with a 3-13-1 overall record and prepare for the Atlantic Soccer Conference Tournament.
