Men's & Women's Swimming Competes at Manhattan Invitational

RIVERDALE, NY - The NJIT men's swimming team picked up two individual second place finishes and a third place finish in the 200 medley relay while the women picked up two individual third place finishes in men's and women's swimming action Saturday afternoon.

The men swam against Canisius and Saint Peter's falling by the scores of 78-16 and 79-14.

Senior Hayk Ekshian placed second overall in the 100 butterfly with a time of :55.56. The 200 medley team which consisted of Steve Schreyer, James Paccioretti, Dmitry Bohdan and Ekshian finished third overall with a time of 1:50.97.

The 200 free relay was swam by Ekshian, Bodhan, Paccioretti and Schreyer placed third crossing the finish line with a time of 1:35.99.

On the women's side, they faced Canisius who defeated the Highlanders 68-12, Saint Peter's topped NJIT 73-16 and Manhattan closed out the meet 59-15.

Freshman Karen Cilento was a top finisher for the women placing third in the 50 free at :26.98 and in the 100 free with a time of 1:00.54.

Men's swimming returns to action on Tuesday, December 4, when they host William Paterson at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center at 6pm.

The NJIT women's swimming team hosts Saint Peter's and St. Francis (NY) on Saturday, December 8, at with a 1pm start.
