New Jersey Institute of Technology women's tennis team made history Saturday afternoon, registering its third victory as an NCAA Division I program in a 5-2 win over Rider University.
Last year the Highlanders defeated St. Peter's College and Fairleigh Dickinson University recording Division I wins.
The Highlanders swept the doubles contests. Iulia Doci and Fatima Kasem recorded their first Division I win as doubles partners 8-5 over Devin Crawbuck and Caitlin Crawbuck. Isha Toor and Fanny Aizier picked up a win at No. 2 doubles 8-6.
NJIT won four out of six single contests.
Iulia Doci notched a win at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0. Kasem and Aizer added back-to-back wins at No. 3 and No.4. Aizer recorded her first collegiate win at No. 4 singles while Chiori Koike tallied a win at No. 6 singles by forfeit.
The Highlanders will travel to Rhode Island next weekend for the URI Shootout.
