Highlanders Sweep Harvard, 3-0, at Golden Dome Classic

NEWARK, NJ - Leonardo Paludo and Eduardo Welter each notched double-figure kills totals and New Jersey Institute of Technology swept Harvard, 3-0, on the second day of the Golden Dome Classic men's volleyball tournament hosted by Rutgers-Newark.

The Highlanders, 4-3, swept the Crimson, 31-29, 30-24 and 30-16, as Paludo posted 14 kills and Welter had 13 kills. Paludo also had 10 digs, finishing second to Christianssen Siddayao, who posted a match-high 11 digs.

Welter came up with 5 service aces, leading the Highlanders to an 8-1 advantage in that area. Brian Como and Amobi Armstrong each had 4 blocks for NJIT. Setter Rodrigo Correa had 39 assists.

Harvard was led by Seamus McKiernan's 15 kills, while Brian Rapp collected 31 assists.

Saturday's match is the first of three scheduled this season between NJIT and Harvard, which are both part of the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association's Hay Division. Saturday's match is separate from the conference schedule.

NJIT is off for 11 days. The Highlanders had been scheduled to host Queens on Wednesday, but the match was cancelled when Queens folded its men's team for this season. Instead, the Highlanders will wait until Wednesday, February 15, when they visit East Stroudsburg for an EIVA Hay Division rematch.
