NEWARK, NJ - The New Jersey Institute of Technology women’s swimming team captured first place in six events, with three of the firsts going to senior captain Ana Ossa and two going to freshman Alaine Fairweather, as the Highlanders nipped visiting Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, 87-84, Wednesday night.

Ossa claimed first place in the 200-yard individual medley, the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breast stroke.  Fairweather led the pack in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. NJIT’s other first-place finish came from the 200-yard medley relay team of Lorin Diaz, Leigh Ann Zangara, Fairweather and Chemu Koech.

NJIT, which gained its first win of the 2006 calendar year, will host the University of Bridgeport in a women’s teams-only meet on Saturday at 1 pm.
