DOVER, DE - New Jersey Institute of Technology won the first game from eventual tournament champion Providence, but the Friars rebounded for a hard-fought 3-1 win in the Highlanders' final match at the Delaware State University Invitational in women's volleyball Saturday afternoon.

NJIT took game one, 30-27, but the Friars bounced back for a 30-25 win in game two and then swept to the match win with 30-20 and 30-26 wins in the last two frames.

Providence finished the tournament at 3-0. Host Delaware State was 2-1, the Highlanders were 1-2 and Winston-Salem State was 0-3.

Much as they had in their 3-0 sweep of Winston-Salem on Friday, the Highlanders used a balance attack that included four players with double-figure kills totals.

Kristy Haeckel had 14 kills, Kasha Hornstein had 12 and Kubra Tanrikulu and Agnieszka Pregowska notched 11 kills apiece. Setter Danielle Thompson had 46 assists, while Haeckel led defensively, with 12 digs. Pregowska had 5 total blocks (1 solo, 4 block assists) to pace NJIT. Six different Highlanders registered service aces, but Hornstein (2 aces) was the only player with more than one ace.

Next up for the Highlanders is a 7 pm Wednesday home match against Wagner in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.
