NJIT track and field athlete John Porteous, from Wood-Ridge, NJ has been selected as NJIT Male Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Roadrunner Invitational.
The junior set two meet records capturing the men's 200 meter dash title and the men's 110 meter hurdles.
Porteous clocked in a 21.05 in the 200m dash breaking the old meet record (21.57) previously held by Ackeme Brown of Ramapo in 2012. In the 110 meter hurdles, he broke the record twice – first in the preliminaries at 14.82 and in the finals with a time of 14.68. Porteous also finished seventh in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.17m (20-03).
The 4x100 relay team which consisted of Porteous, Emmanuel Agyen, Jason Chippy and Adam Morgan notched a second-place finish with a time of 42.17 while the 4x400 relay team of Norman Hamilton, Morgan, Chippy and Porteous also recorded a second-place finish with a time of 3:23.88.
