Senior Rayven Johnson overcame a slow start to score a game-high 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, leading the NJIT women's basketball team to a come-from-behind 73-61 win over St. Francis Brooklyn at the Fleisher Athletic Center Tuesday night.
Johnson made just 1-of-7 shots in the first half, but connected on 7-of-13 after the break. Johnson also connected on all nine of her free throw attempts in the win.
In the Highlanders 59-34 loss, Johnson, a Preseason Great West Conference first-team honoree was held to just six points on 1-of-7 shooting. Johnson connected on 4-of-6 from the free throw line.
For the season, Johnson is averaging 19ppg and 10.5rpg. Johnson is tied with Utah Valley Sammie Jensen, the Preseason Great West Conference Player of the Year in scoring in the conference while ranking third in rebounding.
