Saporito, a senior from New Milford, NJ was named Great West Conference Pitcher of the Week finishing the week 1-0 and with a save in two appearances last week as the Highlanders went 2-2.  Saporito’s ERA for the week was 3.24 in 8.1 innings as he struck out four batters.

On Wednesday, against Rider Saporito picked up his first collegiate save entering the game in the bottom of the eighth to strike out the side and pitching a scoreless ninth inning securing the 5-3 win.

Saturday against Hartfod, Saporito (2-5) scattered 10 hits to earn his second complete-game victory of 2009. He now owns two of NJIT’s three winning decisions, adding the W over Hartford and to an earlier 2-1 win vs. Iona.
