Poline Mackiewicz joined the NJIT coaching staff for the start of the 2012 women’s volleyball season.
A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, she has lived in New Jersey for more than 20 years, residing in Edison with her husband and two children, both of whom are accomplished volleyball players in their own right.
She played volleyball for as captain of Esporte Clube Pinheiros in Sao Paulo from 1975 to 1980, before moving to the United States. Having taken up volleyball with the intention of improving her physical health, she excelled to the point was selected for the Sao Paulo state team with the hope of advancing to the national team for the Olympics. However, a severe ankle injury led to a change of plans and she focused on her studies and work.
Poline worked as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at JP Stevens High School from 2005-2007 assisting in practices and open gyms (during the off season).
Coach Mackiewicz has taught instruction for entry level players for Middle School Volleyball Clinics since 2007, which is sponsored by the Edison Recreation Department.
