Jerome Robinson was hired in the Fall of 2023 after most recently serving as an assistant coach at NJCAA program Monroe College from 2021-23, specializing in sprints, jumps and hurdles. Robinson spent time working with both Monroe’s Division III (2021) and Division I (2022-23) programs.Â
Overall, Robinson has more than 20 years of coaching experience at various collegiate levels. With the Express, Robinson assisted in coaching the 2022 NJCAA Div. III Outdoor Triple Jump Champion, Lamoy Duffus, as well as the men's 4x400 and 4x800 relay championships. The Express men and women both earned Top-10 finishes as a team at the 2022 NJCAA Div. III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Prior to Monroe College-Bronx, Robinson coached track and field at Bloomfield College from 2020-21. He worked with the College of Staten Island back in 2018, and Queens College prior to that from 2016-18.Â
From 2010-16, Robinson had a role with Central Park Track Club New Balance. During that time, he coached at least one USATF Indoor National qualifier each year. The team were six-time National Club Track & Field Champions. Robinson coached four athletes who qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games. He also coached the African long jump and triple jump champion.
Robinson spent four years at the NJCAA level prior to his time with the Central Park Track Club. He spent 2004-06 with Globe Institute of Technology, where he coached 10 NJCAA Div. I All-Americans across the indoor and outdoor seasons, as well as the top-ranked triple jumper in the nation in 2005. Robinson also coached Bronx Community College in 2003, when the team earned five NJCAA Div. III National Champions in the outdoor season, as well as a number of All-Americans.Â
Robinson's first collegiate coaching experience came at nearby Lehman College from 1999-02. At Lehman, he coached over 30 NCAA Div. III National Champions and All-Americans. Robinson led eight CUNY Indoor and Outdoor Team Champions on the women's side. His women's team took second place at both the NCAA Div. III Indoor and Outdoor National Championships in 2003, and he personally coached the Women's Indoor Athlete of the Year.
As a student-athlete, Robinson was a Junior College All-American for the 1987 indoor season in the high jump. He was in the JUCO Top-20 for the 1987 indoor and outdoor campaigns in the long jump and the high jump. Robinson was a USATF Indoor and Outdoor National Championship qualifier in the long jump. He was consistently part of the World Top 50 in the long jump between 1991-97. Robinson earned a silver medal in the indoor 60-meter hurdles and the outdoor long jump at the World Masters for the age 40-44 range in 2011, and then did so again in the 45-49 range in 2013. He is also a three-time Masters National Champion in the long jump.
Robinson is a USATF Level III/IAAF Level V Certified Jumps Coach, a USATF Level II Certified Sprints & Hurdles Coach, a NASM Personal Trainer and Performance Enhancement Specialist, and also a world-ranked Masters Athlete in the long jump. He also founded his own USTAF Certified Elite Track & Field club, Next Level Athletic Club, in 2017 that focuses on post-college sprinters and jumpers.
