Mary Kacic

Mary Kacic joined the NJIT coaching staff in July 2007 after a year as interim assistant women's basketball coach at Fordham in 2006-07.

 

She previously coached two years at Division II Dowling (2003 to 2005), as well as serving as a head coach in the renowned Liberty Belles girls AAU program in 2003.

 

She has also worked as a coach and counselor in camps conducted by Manhattan College, UConn, Siena College, Christ the King HS and Eastern Invitational.

 

She is certified as a strength and conditioning coach (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is a certified basketball referee.

 

As a player, Kacic starred at Christ the King High, which ranked first in the nation by USA Today following her senior year (1998) and captured the New York State Federation crown all each season from 1995 to 1998. She was all-tri-state (NY, NJ, CT), all-city and all-Queens as a senior.

 

Kacic went on to play Division I college ball at Manhattan, where she was a four-year member of the varsity and a two-year captain. She received the prestigious 2002 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference/New York State Lottery Scholar-Athlete of the Year, an honor given to the top scholar-athlete among the MAAC's 10 women's basketball teams.

 

She completed her playing eligibility at Dowling in 2003, helping the team to the NCAA Division II tournament. Kacic earned all-conference and all-tournament honors, as well as all-region recognition from the Met (NY) Basketball Writers Association.

 

Kacic earned degrees from the two colleges she represented on the basketball court. She was a magna cum laude graduate of Manhattan, receiving her BS in exercise science in February 2003. In May 2004, she received her MBA in general management from Dowling.

 

She resides in Howard Beach, NY.
