Prior to NJIT: A member of the North Arlington High School track and field team, Cordeiro won the indoor NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group I championship in the 800-meter and 1,600-meter run and added the overall Group I championship in the 800, becoming the school’s first overall state champion in track and field. During the outdoor season, outdoor track season he won both the 800 and 1,600-meter at the state sectionals, as well as capturing a gold medal in the triple jump and captured the all-state Group 1 championship in the 800-meter run. ...Cordeiro also played soccer at North Arlington and earned first-team all-state Group 1, all-Bergen and all-County honors after scoring 30 goals and 18 assists during his senior campaign. He set a record for most goals in a game (6) vs. St. Mary's Rutherford on October 1. Danny was named The Observer Male Athlete of the Year for 2013-14 season, becoming the fifth North Arlington athlete to receive the year-end honor since 2008. He played club soccer for Pasco SC.
