NJIT places a strong emphasis on the career development of our student-athletes by offering tailored resources and opportunities that prepare them for life after sports. The athletic department often collaborates with Career Development Services to provide specific accommodations that allow our student athletes to take advantage of their services in a way that fits their day-to-day. A main initiative is providing “fast passes” or early access to career fairs, allowing student-athletes to connect directly with potential employers despite their demanding athletic schedules. The athletic department actively assists in bringing generations of Highlanders together through alumni networks, helping current athletes secure internships and gain industry insight through mentorship and professional relationships from former student-athletes.
In addition, NJIT equips student-athletes with practical tools for career readiness, such as workshops and one-on-one coaching in resume writing, interview preparation, and networking strategies. These initiatives are designed to address the unique time constraints and experiences of student-athletes, ensuring they are not only competitive in the job market but also confident in navigating their professional paths. Through these efforts, it is our goal to foster and encourage a culture that values both athletic and career success.
