NEWARK, NJ — Freshman middle blocker Daniel Latkowski has been named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Latkowski helped lead the Highlanders to a 2-0 week, averaging 1.75 kills per set while hitting .500. He totaled 15 blocks across the two matches, averaging 1.88 blocks per set.
In Friday's 3-1 win at Harvard, Latkowski recorded six kills on 12 attempts with no errors for a .500 hitting percentage. He added five total blocks, all assists.
He followed that performance with eight kills on 14 swings, committing just one error for another .500 hitting percentage in Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Crimson. Latkowski tallied 10 total blocks (all assists), tied for the second-most in the nation in a four-set match this season and a new personal best for the Avenel, NJ, native.
