NEWARK, NJ–Sophomore transfer
Ava Locklear has been selected America East Conference Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.
In a 1-1 week for the Highlanders, Locklear averaged a double-double: 21.0ppg, 10.5rpg, 2.5spg, shot 57.7 percent from the field (15-for-26) and an impressive 70 percent from downtown (7-for-10).
The Highlander forward from Tiffin, IA, recorded a double-double at Monmouth, her third of the season, combining for a career-best 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. The 14 rebounds were two shy of her career-best (16 vs. Lafayette; 11.30.25).
In NJIT's home win over Manhattan, Locklear combined for 18 points, shooting 6-for-10 from the field and was perfect from downtown, shooting 3-of-3 to go along with seven rebounds and four steals.
NJIT is off to its best start in program history with an 8-3 overall non-conference record with two games remaining in 2025.
Next Up
NJIT will host Dartmouth (Dec. 11 at 6pm) prior to Christmas break. The final non-conference game of the season will be on December 29 at Delaware State. Tip off is slated for 2pm.
