El Fallaki Wins America East Swimmer & Rookie Of The Week After Breaking Three Records At NJIT Invitational

BOSTON - Ilias El Fallaki was named the America East Swimmer and Rookie of the Week after breaking three records at the NJIT Invitational, the conference announced on Tuesday. This marks El Fallaki's first career AE awards.
 
El Fallaki broke three records in one swim in his collegiate debut, including the school record for the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:32.82) and 1,650-yard freestyle (15:44.05), as well as the pool record for the 1,650-yard freestyle. His 1,650-yard freestyle ranks No. 4 in the nation. He also won the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:39.85. His freestyle times rank No. 1 in the America East.
 
He participated as the anchor leg of the 400-yard medley relay, where NJIT finished fourth with a time of 3:31.41. The freshman finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly, recording a time of 1:56.07, which ranks fifth in the America East. Additionally, as the anchor of the 400-yard freestyle relay, he helped the team to a second-place finish with a time of 3:08.05, making NJIT's relay team the top-ranked in the America East.
