Ban Leads Men's Swimming and Diving As America East Championships Begin

VESTAL, N.Y. --- Over the weekend, the 2021 America East Swimming and Diving Championships kicked off, with the Diving competitions taking place at Binghamton University's Saunders Aquatic Center.

NJIT's three divers - freshman Aiden Ban, sophomore Itay Bachar, and junior John Battikha - represented the Highlanders in the men's 1 meter and 3 meter events.

Ban led the Highlander contingent, narrowly missing out on the medal stand in both events with a pair of fourth place finishes. Ban posted a score of 248.00 in the 1 meter dive and a 250.85 in the 3 meter dive.

Bachar and Battikha placed in the top ten in the 1 meter, placing eighth (148.90) and tenth (120.30) respectively. Battikha joined Ban on the 3 meter scoreboard, finishing ninth with a score of 138.85.

The scores of the diving meet will be added to this week's swimming championships event, being hosted by NJIT at the Wellness and Events Center Natatorium from April 23-25. America East All-Conference honors are awarded to the top three-individual finishers in a swimming or diving event at the championship meet.
