KNOXVILLE, TENN. --- The final day of the 2020 CCSA Championships ended Saturday evening with the NJIT men's swimming and diving team placing fifth overall out of seven teams. The Highlanders tallied 333 total points and slotted behind champion Incarnate Word (874.5 points), runner-up Gardner-Webb (685), Florida Atlantic (651.5), and Old Dominion (391).
NJIT produced three Top 8 finishes on the final day of the meet:
Nicholas Lyons in the 200 Breast (2:04.06),
Mattheau Bonner in the 200 Fly (1:50.80), and
Justin Andersen in the 1650 Free (16:24.68).
Lyons was the top individual scorer for the Highlanders, tying for 36th overall with 31 points and set three school records in the process: 50 Breast (25.64), 100 Breast (55.42), and 200 Breast (2:02.66).
The Highlander coaching staff was also honored after the CCSA meet. First-year assistant coach and head diving coach
Dora Fyfe was voted by her peers as the 2019-20 CCSA Men's Diving Coach of the Year. Fyfe helped
Cole Becker reach the finals of both the 1 Meter (7th, 213.65) and 3 Meter (6th, 260.85) events and
Max Hafen join Becker in the 3 Meter finals (8th, 104.85).
