SOMERS, WI – NJIT men's swimmer
Matheus Monteiro Montarroyos received CollegeSwimming.com Swimmer of the Week for the second time in 2016 representing the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA).
The website CollegeSwimming.com selects men's and women's National Collegiate Swimmers of the Week from Divisions I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA.
Montarroyos swam in four events for the Highlanders in their 170-92 loss to host Bryant on Sunday, finishing first in two of them and earning 21 points for his team.
The junior transfer placed first in both the 500 free (4:50.63) and the 1000 free (10:02.04).
In the four meets NJIT has competed in this year, Montarroyos has finished first in the 500 and 1000 free races in each meet.
At Bryant, Montarroyos also helped the 400 relay team come in second, posting the fastest split time of any swimmer in the event, 22.53.
Montarroyos swam the 50 free in 22.52 good for third place.
