The New Jersey Institute of Technology men's tennis team posted its second dominant 7-0 win in the last week, shutting out visiting Wagner, 7-0, Saturday night in the Tenafly Racquet Club.
The Highlanders, 10-8 with the win over Wagner, had rolled over St. Francis (NY) a week earlier. Wagner is 2-7.
Against St. Francis, NJIT had four 6-0, 6-0 singles victories and two 8-0 doubles victories. Against Wagner, the Highlanders lost only three points in five singles matches (won sixth singles by default) and then they took the two contested doubles matches by identical 8-2 scores. The third doubles went to NJIT by default.
The closest match of the night was at first singles, where NJIT's Steve Erickson took a 6-0, 6-2 win over Wagner's Adam Anster. In the second spot, Jonathan Lang of NJIT was a 6-0, 6-1 winner, while Cosmin Chiujdea (#3), Steve Arlt (#4) and Damian Wentzel (#5) were all 6-0, 6-0 winners. Ramy Lawandy won by default at number six.
The last three scheduled matches of the season are road contests, starting with a 10 am match at Bucknell on Saturday, March 31, at 10 am.
