The New Jersey Institute of Technology women's tennis team defeated Millersville, 7-0 Thursday afternoon at the Fleisher Athletic Center. The Highlanders improve to 16-5 on the season.
NJIT won the doubles point, winning two of the matches. Iulia Doci and Fatima Kasem won their match defeating Christy Lilli and Caitlin Golden, 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Deepti Sanjai and Eva Salierno clinched the point for the Highlanders, defeating Kara Fisher and Annie Bauermaster, 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Grace Bogdan and Chiori Koike fell to Melisa Charles and Jen Habecker, 9-8 in a (9-7 tiebreaker) at No. 3 doubles.
Iulia Doci picked up a win at No. 1 singles, topping Christy Lilli. Fatima Kasem recorded her seventh win at No. 2 singles defeating Caitlin Golden, 6-0, 6-2. Senior Deepti Sanjai earned a point for the Highlanders defeating Kara Fisher 6-1, 6-0. Eva Salierno followed with a win of her own, topping Annie Bauermater at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Chiori Koike and Rebeca Solorzano both won their singles matches.
The Highlanders return to action Saturday, April 8th when they travel to Lakewood, NJ to take on Georgian Court University.
