Visiting Concordia took three close games from New Jersey Institute of Technology Wednesday night, defeating the Highlanders, 3-0, in non-conference women’s volleyball.
The Clippers won the first game, 30-27, and the second game went to extra points before Concordia prevailed, 31-29. Finally, the Clippers clinched the match with a 30-28 win in the third frame.
Freshman Aggie Pregowska led NJIT on the offense, with 17 kills and on defense, with 10 digs. Fellow freshman Danielle Thompson registered 31 assists for the Highlanders.
Concordia’s balanced offense had three players with double-figure kill totals, led by Cindy Eckard’s 12. Setter Alisa Korn collected 39 assists. On defense, two Clippers surpassed 10 digs, led by Amanda Westfall (18). Concordia, which had a 14-4 advantage in service aces, was paced by Ariel Isaac’s 5 aces.
NJIT, with four matches remaining on its 2005 schedule, plays its final non-conference match of the year on Friday at 7 pm, when it hosts Queens (NY) in Fleisher Athletic Center.
