The New Jersey Institute of Technology women's tennis team raised it overall record to 4-2 and its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference record to 3-0 with a convincing 8-1 win over Georgian Court Wednesday afternoon at Branch Brook Park.
NJIT won five of the six singles matches and swept the three doubles matches.
Iulia Doci and Chiori Koike teamed for an 8-4 win in first doubles against Georgian Court 's duo of Dunja Dunda and Katherine Henriques. Doci also defeated Dunda in first singles (6-3, 6-0), while Deepti Sanjai of the Highlanders topped Henriques in third singles (6-1, 6-2).
Sanjai and Eva Salierno picked up an 8-4 win for NJIT in second doubles, while Salierno claimed a hard-fought win in second singles, defeating Autumn Florez, 6-3, 6-4.
The only win for Georgian Court was at sixth singles in a three-set tilt, won by Didem Cakiroglu, 6-1, 4-6, 6-0.
The Highlanders are slated to compete in ITA Regional competition this weekend, with matches taking place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
