NEWARK, NJ - Philadelphia University scored a long goal in each half to defeat New Jersey Institute of Technology, 2-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer Thursday night.

Philadelphia's win in the game that was re-scheduled from Wednesday and moved to NJIT due to wet field conditions in Philadelphia lifts the Rams to 9-0-1 in the CACC, while NJIT closes its conference schedule with a 7-2-2 record.

NJIT, which will await word on a possible ECAC postseason tournament berth, completed its regular season with an overall record of 8-6-2. The eight wins are the most in a season for the program that is in its 10th season of existence.

NJIT's seven conference wins, which were good for third place, are also the most for the Highlanders since they joined the CACC in 2000. NJIT's two conference losses, both by 2-0 scores, came against first-place Holy Family and against second-place Philadelphia.

On Thursday, most of the statistics were even, except for goals, as Philadelphia struck for similar goals in the first 15 minutes of each half.

Sophomore Melissa McMullen lofted a high shot under the crossbar from 25 yards out, assisted by senior Diana Bowen at 11:53 and Bowen picked up a goal herself, booting another shot from just outside the penalty area beyond the reach of NJIT goalkeeper Bruna Lotufo at 59:28. Bowen's second-half score was unassisted.

Each team took 10 shots, while Philadelphia freshman Sara Hall made 6 saves in posting the shutout in goal, while Lotufo, the NJIT keeper, stopped 5 shots.

NJIT had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
